Does Your Lawn Need Lime Treatment?
We apply lime to lawns in the Fraser Valley
Lime application for your lawn can help to achieve a more alkaline soil condition which is beneficial for grass to grow. The pH balance of your lawn is not usually something an average property owner would consider but it’s an important aspect of proper lawn care, especially if you want a lush green lawn. Most types of grass grow best in a soil pH between 6 and 7. In BC and the lower mainland with all of the rain we have our soil can become much more acidic. The way to fix this condition is with the careful application of lime.
All Seasons Landscaping is a landscaping and lawn care company based out of the Fraser Valley and serving most of the Lower Mainland and Greater Vancouver. We specialize in lawn care programs for commercial properties and residential developments with large, high-visibility lawns. Part of our lawn care program is the application of lime when the soil condition calls for it.
If the pH of your lawn soil is incorrect your grass won’t respond well to fertilizer treatments because the roots won’t be able to uptake the nutrients in an acidic environment. Lime (when applied correctly if it’s needed) can correct this problem.
Do You Need to Lime Your Lawn?
The only way for us to tell for sure is to take a soil test of your lawn areas. Applying lime to a lawn that doesn’t really need it is a waste of time and money. We test our clients lawns on an annual basis as part of our regular lawn care services. Lime only needs to applied once every few years and the soil test will help determine that.
Will Lime Application Be Safe For Kids And Pets?
The lime that is used on lawns is made from ground limestone. Which is a soft rock with high calcium content. It’s a natural product, but it’s also available in several different forms. Some of which can be harmful to pets and people (caustic lime) and other types that are very safe (non-caustic lime). This is the simple answer. We can meet with you to discuss the needs of your particular property and choose a lime product that will work.
